Open House this Sunday April 10th 1-3pm!
I'm so excited that spring is just around the corner! You can just start to see little shoots of green poking up out of the ground. This home is truly wonderful in the spring, summer and fall times. This home is simply perfect for families with younger children. Two bedrooms are located upstairs next to the master suite and a fourth bedroom and bathroom in the basement is perfect for visiting family.
We have one of the rare fenced in back yards which are normally not allowed in the Wexford covenants unless you have a pool. We are a few minutes walk away from three different neighborhood parks and playgrounds and we have a greenspace with a walking and biking path abutting the back corner of our property. Wexford park and playground, Tideman Pond nature conservancy and playground as well as Strickers Pond nature conservancy and playground are all within an easy stroll.
So many shopping and dining options are within an easy drive! Downtown Middleton with wonderful restaurants and lovely local shops is within biking distance. The new Willy Street co-op is just up the road on University Ave and Park St. The Middleton post office, Greenway Station and Costco are all just a short drive away on the north Middleton side of the home.
West Towne Mall, Westgate Mall, Hilldale Mall, Target, Sam's Club and Woodman's are all within a short 1o minute drive. If you need to be downtown, it is a quick 15 minute drive to the Capitol or Henry Vilas Zoo. Easy access to the Beltline Highway is just a few minutes away as well!
I hope you will take some time to look at the photos posted here of our home and please attend our first Open House to be held this Sunday, April 10th. Thank you for visiting!

2nd Floor Bedrooms, Master + 2
We have three bedrooms located on the 2nd floor. I want to mention that all three rooms have ceiling fans and light fixtures. Two of the light fixtures are a recent upgrade from non-lit ceiling fans. It has been nice to be able to turn the lights on without having to rely on lamps in the room.

Great room with cathedral ceilings & open floor plan
The great room, which is located off the kitchen, is used as both dining and living space. Open floor plan flows nicely and you can be working in the kitchen and still participating in conversation or keeping an eye on your little ones. Cathedral ceilings give this room a bright and airy feeling while the granite surround wood burning fireplace is a pleasant focal point and gathering place on cold winter evenings. You can see how the great room also flows into the office with lovely curtained french doors.
Recessed hall nook used as "mud room"
The front room - office or media room
This room is great - large and multi-functional! It has curtained french doors at both entries so you can close them when you need quiet, or watch a movie in a completely dark room with the curtains drawn.
This last photo shows a view into the great room with the cathedral ceilings and an open floor plan.

Preview - Our House in the Summer
I really love summers in Madison! I took a lot of photos this summer so I could remember what it is like. Our house is really great for families with younger, school aged children. One of the best features of our property is the GIGANTIC, fenced in back yard. The front yard is a nice size, too. We also have an open floor plan which is different from most of the homes in this neighborhood. The kitchen opens up to the great room which has hardwood floors, a wood burning fireplace and a vaulted ceiling up to the roof line. It is very open and spacious and you can keep an eye on the kids while you are busy in the kitchen. Downstairs also has a bonus room that can be closed off with two sets of curtained french doors. It makes a great office or a media room when you block out the light by closing all the curtains. A half bathroom, hall closet and a small mud-room type area complete the main floor.
Upstairs, we have an extra large sized master bedroom with a walk in closet and bathroom en suite. There is also a hallway bathroom and two generously sized bedrooms with windows overlooking the front yard. The large finished basement has a fourth legal bedroom, large dry bar, a crafting counter top, a 3/4 bathroom and a separate utility room with extra storage. The utility room is where you'll find the gas hot water heater, gas furnace, water softener, and a front loading washer and dryer.
I think the kids are really going to miss the backyard and their Rainbow play structure. They have spent a lot of time here, even in the winter time, exploring, swinging, climbing, sliding and having fun. Our total property size is over 17,000 square feet - almost half an acre. Our backyard is flat and mostly open with a big willow tree in one corner, some tall evergreens for privacy and a couple other trees along the outside perimeter. It is a lot of nice space for running and playing sports like baseball, soccer and football. The backyard is entirely fenced in which is unusual for this neighborhood. Generally speaking, you are not allowed to have a fence here unless you have a pool. I have let my kids play in the backyard without direct supervision while I keep an eye and ear on them from the sliding deck door or the kitchen window. In 2008 we also built our own raised garden beds for growing our own vegetables. I will post some other pictures later since the blog did not let me put up very many pictures at one time.
Don't forget that you can click on pictures here to see them in a larger size.
